About Bill Collard, MD of ExExperience

Bill Collard, Managing Director of ExExperience has over twenty years of experience exclusively devoted to hazardous area engineering. Bill graduated from Liverpool University in 1982 with a BSc.Hons. degree in Physics with Industrial Studies, is a Member of the Institute of Physics and a Chartered Physicist. He is a member of the BSI GEL 31/11 committee responsible for producing the British hazardous area codes of practice. Bill has also represented the U.K. on the IEC (International Electro-technical Commission) committee that produces international standards and codes of practice.

Having worked in oil exploration and production with Geosource in Madagascar and Oman, Bill joined Sira in 1989 as a certification engineer and by 1995 was heading Sira’s hazardous area section in Cheshire. Since 1995 Bill has been providing hazardous area services to industry with ExExperience.

  • Several ‘in house’ training programmes for Woodside Offshore Petroleum Australia.
  • An ‘in house’ training program for China Light and Power, Hong Kong, total of 7 training courses.
  • Training courses for Euromatech and Glomacs in the Middle East. (Usually two courses per year)
  • Hazardous area equipment Design Consultancy for Siemens Gas meters, Bayer, PRI and Manx Gas.
  • Hazardous area classification of Barking Power Station, The Tartan offshore Platform, The Flotta terminal in Orkney and the Cekmece terminal in Turkey.
  • Hazardous area classification and training for Powergen CHP.
  • Hazardous area classification for the Air BP aircraft fuel terminals in the UK.
  • Hazardous area classification for Texaco Chevron terminals at Kingsbury, Brighton, Poole, Portsmouth, Bristol and Cardiff.
  • Hazardous area classification for the SOSL terminal at Sunderland. (Chevron/BP joint venture.)
  • Preparation of complete DSEAR compliance documentation (Explosion Protection Documents) for Cytec in Wrexham, Lubrizol in Hazelwood and Reabrook in Swadlincote.
